Executive Director

THE POSITION

Solar Cookers International (SCI) is seeking an Executive Director to implement the strategic plan of Solar Cookers International. The successful candidate will work with the board, staff and volunteers around the globe to build on past efforts and launch new ones to achieve mission goals.

A vigorous commitment to clean, sustainable energy solutions for cooking, plus a strong commitment to humanitarian action and environmental preservation are a must.

A candidate who has high energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position fundraising discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels will be a good fit for the organizational culture. Proven success in reaching, often exceeding, fundraising goals. A candidate who is a self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial, who enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives, will enjoy working with the SCI staff.

SALARY

Annual Salary range

This is a full-time, salaried position located in Sacramento, California, USA. $82,000 - $95,000 per annum. Compensation commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and training that would allow a candidate to carry out the Executive Director role (appropriate knowledge, skills, and abilities) would be considered in lieu of qualifications sought below.

Required: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible, full-time professional executive leadership experience in international development/humanitarian work. The ideal candidate will have international, fundraising, presentation, and applicable technological experience, within a complex nonprofit organization, with a proven record of leading an organization to success.

Required:Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Masters degree preferred.

Development Manager

THE POSITION

 Solar Cookers International (SCI) is seeking a Development Manager who understands the exciting role philanthropy plays in a well-lived life, and enjoys developing relationships with people to help make their compassionate goals a reality. The successful candidate will work with existing staff to build on past efforts and launch new ones for a stronger fundraising organization to achieve mission goals.

A candidate who has high energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position fundraising discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels will be a good fit for the organizational culture. Proven success in reaching, often exceeding, fundraising goals is a must. A candidate who is a self-starter, able to work independently, and is entrepreneurial, and who enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives, will enjoy working with the SCI staff.

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time, hourly position, paying in the range of $63,000 - $75,000. Compensation commensurate with experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Required: A minimum of three years of progressively responsible, full-time professional experience in development and fundraising. The ideal candidate will have development experience, ideally in an “in-house” leadership role within a complex nonprofit organization, and covering areas such as direct mail, donor and member communications, and database management. The successful candidate will have at least a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: CFRE certification.
