THE POSITION

Solar Cookers International (SCI) is seeking a Public Relations Officer to lead the communications and marketing strategy for publications, media, website, and messaging to achieve the organization’s strategic plan. The employee will create high-quality collateral to consistently articulate and promote the mission and brand of SCI.

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Required: Five (5) years progressively responsible experience in Public Relations,  ideally in an “in-house” leadership role, and covering media, website content, newsletters, and donor communications. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages, and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical. Proven skills in relationship building.

Preferred: A bachelor’s degree, with coursework in communications, graphic communications, business, marketing, psychology or related field. 

 

 

PROGRAM ASSOCIATE

Solar Cookers International (SCI) is seeking a Program Associate to advance SCI’s mission to spread solar thermal cooking technology to benefit people and environments. This will be done through engaging partners, outreach, education, promotion, communications, advocacy, and membership development.

Development Associate

THE POSITION

Solar Cookers International (SCI) is seeking a development associate to carry out fundraising programs as assigned by the development director. Position is in the Sacramento area and includes administrative duties related to fundraising, database management, working with volunteers, and keeping information current on SCI websites. Also, identifying new donor prospects, growing the list of recurring donors, and learning more about existing donors through research, and preparing senior staff for donor and prospect meetings. Develops relationships with donors and SCI’s target audiences.

  QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of successful professional fundraising experience. 
  • Familiarity with all aspects of fundraising, donor and public relations. 
  • Experience in constituent relationship management software (CRM) or a donor database.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen.
  • Finesse to work with important constituents, including Board and Committee members, vendors and international representatives.
  • Ability to work and relate to a diverse constituency and population.
