Although I had purchased this oven with the reflector, for the first two years I used this without it. The oven heated during summer to 200-285 deg. F. With the reflector installed, it heats up to 340 or so. Most often, I make beans in my cooker--I set up the cooker for noon setting, wash the beans and add spices/herbs (not salt, though), add water and check it when I get home the next day--that's when I add salt, turn the cooker, and cook for half an hour longer. If I'm going to be late (say after 3:30 or so), I call and ask someone to turn it for me. It also roasts vegetables quite nicely. (I keep mine in my garden--we roast beets, carrots, etc.). It will hold two pans at a time; I've equipped mine with very short 8" cast iron trivets to allow air to circulate and add thermal mass.
Pros: lightweight, easy to move around, no assembly, easy to use
Cons: the plastic begins to warp a bit after a couple of years--it still works, just isn't as efficient; light weight also means it cools rapidly--one of the reasons for adding thermal mass--I've made a fireless cooker for this reason (another way to recycle those old styrofoam coolers and newspaper).
