Solar Cookers International (SCI) is seeking a collaborative, experienced Communications Associate to support SCI's mission and program activities.
Communications work will involve social media, website, email, webinars, print publications, press, and in-person interactions. This position will also include partnership and membership development; information gathering and analysis; and communications with internal and external audiences.
This rewarding work supports SCI’s mission: to help families breathe cleaner air, preserve environments, and break the cycle of energy poverty with solar cooking solutions.

Solar Cookers International (SCI) is seeking a dedicated employee to perform a wide range of administrative duties including support for management, fund development and the board of directors; database coordination tasks; reception and public contact; communications and phones; and general office support duties. The employee will complete a variety of clerical, communications, database and data entry tasks free of errors. The position is based in Sacramento, at 2400 22nd Street, Suite 210. Position is open until filled.
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Required: Two years of experience in providing secretarial/clerical support and with extensive public contact. Some experience with databases, document storage, and in data entry. Some college.
Preferred: A bachelor’s degree, with coursework in business administration, marketing, communications, international development, international relations, and/or a related field. Experience with fundraising software.
Upon original appointment, employees start at the pay range minimum. Employees who have performed at satisfactory levels for a period of six (6) months of continuous service after initial appointment shall be eligible for advancement to a higher rate in the salary range for the classification. Such salary advancement shall be in an amount 5%. After the initial salary advancement as specified above, employees who have performed at satisfactory levels may be considered for periodic increases one year from the prior increase.
