Carina Chavez

Program / Administrative Associate

The mission of Solar Cookers International is at the intersection of Carina’s passions: environmental health and women’s empowerment. She hopes to have a long career in the field of sustainable development to empower vulnerable communities across the globe. Carina is excited to work for SCI to help achieve sustainable development that is beneficial to both the environment and people.

Carina joined SCI in 2022. She makes sure that SCI donors see the impact they are making with SCI by thanking donors, tracking donor engagement, responding to inquiries to build the capacity of the solar cooking sector, managing the SCI store, and more.

She attended the University of California, Davis, to pursue a degree in International Agricultural Development. Carina served an AmeriCorps term with California Safe Corps and assisted her community by coordinating volunteer events, responding to local emergencies, and giving emergency preparedness presentations, including CPR/First Aid/AED courses.

Outside of SCI, Carina enjoys reading, taking care of her many houseplants, and going on road trips with friends.
