The mission of Solar Cookers International is at the intersection of Jacob’s two passions: sustainability and global health. He hopes to have a long career in the field of sustainable development to empower vulnerable communities across the globe. Jacob is excited to work for SCI to help achieve sustainable development that is beneficial to both the environment and people.
Jacob joined SCI in 2021. He makes sure that SCI donors see the impact they are making with SCI by tracking donor engagement, thanks donors, responds to inquiries to build the capacity of the solar cooking sector, manages the SCI store, and more.
He has a B.A. in Global Studies and Environmental Studies/ Geography from the University of California, Los Angeles, and wrote a senior thesis on urban resilience during the time of globalization. While at UCLA, he led a team of peers for Sustainability Action Research, a student-led organization that strives to improve UCLA’s sustainability through targeted projects and research. While in the program, Jacob worked on projects to reduce food waste in dining halls and integrate sustainable solutions into UCLA Athletics. He has previous experience interning with other international nonprofits. Outside of SCI, Jacob enjoys trying new foods, backpacking, and visiting national parks.
