Lynn Malooly

“I am excited to join the board of Solar Cookers International because of its focused mission and wide spread impact, particularly for women and girls. I saw firsthand in my work as Executive Director at Water for South Sudan how women and girls suffer from lack of access to basic resources. Solar cooking is a beautiful solution which addresses so many fundamental needs.”  

Lynn Malooly joined the board of SCI in 2026. She is now retired, and previously served as Executive Director at Water for South Sudan, where she saw firsthand the impact that a small, focused non-governmental organization (NGO) can accomplish. Providing women with the resources they need improves the lives of all.  

Lynn holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame where she studied in the Great Books Program. Early in her career, she worked in communications and community relations before stepping back to raise her three children—an experience that included homeschooling them and founding a Waldorf-inspired homeschool enrichment program. 

She was the first US employee at Water for South Sudan in Rochester, New York, later serving as Executive Director until her retirement. Her board service includes the public library board, and she is co-founder and board president of her local library foundation. She also serves on the board of a nonprofit serving local residents. 

Outside of her professional and volunteer work, she enjoys reading, hiking, travel, and yoga, and treasures time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren.
