Donate your IRA required minimum distribution (RMD)

If you are 701/2 and older, you can contribute up to $111,000 for an individual ($222,00 household) for tax year 2026 to Solar Cookers International to avoid paying income taxes on the distribution. Solar Cookers International is a qualified 501(c)(3) that can receive your Qualified Charitable Contribution (QCD) by contacting your IRA custodian.

You can make a Qualified Charitable Contribution at any time. But, donating your required minimum distribution (RMD), required by the IRS for individuals age 73 and older to withdraw from their IRA, can save you income taxes as they are included in the IRS’ calculation of taxable income.

Open A Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA)

For anyone aged 55+, Charitable Gift Annuity’s are a fantastic way to receive a regular income for you or a loved one’s LIFETIME while leaving a legacy gift to Solar Cookers International.

Here is an illustration of how a CGA could benefit you and your family.

  • In this example Mary started a CGA with $50,000 (min $20,000 cash, property, stock or securities, IRA Required Minimum Distribution, just to name a few options).
  • She received an immediate income tax deduction of $20,758
  • Based on Mary’s age (75), she will receive $3,500 every year for life – Guaranteed!
  • Upon Mary’s passing, Solar Cookers International will receive the residual of the CGA. This amount is typically between 50-75% of the initial investment.

Donate a vehicle in support of SCI

Do you have a car you no longer need? SCI is participating in the CARS program which allows individuals to donate almost any vehicle from cars and trucks to RVs, boats, and even airplanes in support of a nonprofit. CARS works with hundreds of vendors throughout the country to provide free pick-up with 70% of the proceeds going to SCI. CARS also handles all of the tax paperwork to make the process as easy as possible.
