Rita Bachmann

Madagascar

“I am thrilled to support Solar Cookers International as a Global Advisor because SCI’s efforts have a great impact around the world. I have a passion for social and environmental issues. As managing director of the non-profit organization ADES - Association pour le Développement de l'Energie Solaire Suisse – Madagascar, I strive to preserve the environment and habitats in Madagascar and to reduce deforestation and CO2 emissions. To achieve this, we need to raise people's awareness, introduce energy-saving cooking methods in households, and carry out sustainable reforestation projects. Solar Cookers International’s mission intersects beautifully with these goals.”

Ms. Bachmann brings to SCI a strong ability to interact with many different organizations and serve as an intercultural expert. Ms. Bachmann assumed the role of managing director of ADES in April 2018 and is working tirelessly to solve Madagascar's socio-economic and ecological challenges by using solar cookers and energy-saving stoves to alleviate the problems of deforestation. As a result, Rita brings deep knowledge about carbon dioxide emissions trading and certificates, design of cooking appliances, and setting up solar cooker production structures.

Rita has great success in the development and management of eco-tourism projects, in leading non-profit organisations, and in dealing with disadvantaged children and people with disabilities. Rita’s vast history shows flexibility and adaptability in a variety of situations and many different countries, all of which SCI will appreciate and utilize.
