SCI Intern Ben Fred Ineza Drives Change through the Constellations Fellowship Program
Born and raised in Rwanda in a large family, Ben Fred Ineza learned responsibility early. As the eldest son, he often stepped in to support and guide his younger siblings, an experience that shaped his compassion, steadiness, and commitment to serving others. Those same values now drive his work as a Communications Intern with SCI through the Keeling Curve Prize Constellations Fellowship program by the Global Warming Mitigation Project.

Ben chose this fellowship because it sits at the intersection of two things he cares about most: impactful storytelling and community centered solutions. With a background in digital media and content creation, he believes stories and visuals can move people from awareness to action. On SCI’s Communications team, he creates social media content, edits videos, and supports digital campaigns that highlight the global impact of solar cooking.
What inspires Ben most about SCI is its collaborative, global approach. A simple renewable technology cooking with the sun touches multiple issues at once: reducing household air pollution, curbing deforestation, saving families time and money, strengthening climate resilience, and advancing gender equity by easing the fuel collection burden that often falls on women and girls.
Ben’s decision to join SCI is also personal. “It came from a desire to connect my values with global action. I wanted to be part of an organization that actively addresses pressing issues in society while also giving me space to grow and contribute. So far, this experience has been enriching. I’ve been able to learn from a passionate teammate and expand my understanding of how communications can drive impact.”
His experience at SCI so far has been energising. Through creating digital content and supporting communication efforts, Ben is learning how strategic storytelling and media can fuel advocacy and awareness. He values the team’s spirit of curiosity, humility, and relentless focus on impact.
Looking ahead, Ben hopes to keep using communication as a tool for problem solving, amplifying stories, connecting communities, and helping scale clean cooking access across Africa and beyond. He’s motivated by a simple idea: when we share the right stories, we don’t just inform people, we equip them to build solutions to the ongoing problems communities face every day.
