Step-by-step tutorial: Creating a fundraiser for Solar Cookers International

This Big Day of Giving (Apr 18 through May 2, 2024), help Solar Cookers International raise funds to meet the rising need for sustainable cooking for families around the world. This blog will guide you on how to set up a fundraiser in a few simple steps.

You may watch the tutorial video above to learn how to set up a fundraiser for SCI or follow these instructions:

1. Go to www.bigdayofgiving.org/organization/solarcookers

2. Click the "Fundraise" button

3. Click “Get Started” on the pop-up 

4. Click “Build your fundraiser” on the 2nd pop-up, and you will be redirected to your fundraising page, which you may customize as you would like or use the options for copy/images provided below.

5. Mandatory sections to complete (you may customize this section as you prefer or use the given text and images): 

  • Title: A nonprofit fundraiser supporting SCI

  • Summary: Join me in raising funds for SCI to provide solar cookers to women and children worldwide!  

  • Featured media: Two banner image options are provided at the end of this blog. Right-click on either image and save it to your computer. Then click 'Featured Media', drag and drop the image, and click 'Done'.

  • Goal: Set a goal for the total donation amount

  • Date: Select May 2, 2024, as the last day of fundraising

  • Story: 

    Please support me in providing women and children access to solar cookers to keep them safe and healthy while lowering greenhouse emissions and deforestation by donating to my fundraiser today!
     

    WHY SOLAR COOKING? 

    1 in 3 people in the world cook using polluting open fires or simple stoves fueled by kerosene, coal, and garbage, resulting in negative health and environmental consequences. 
     

    Solar cookers offer a sustainable and powerful solution to those challenges because they have no emissions and use free solar energy for cooking and water pasteurization. Solar cooking allows people to breathe cleaner air and drink safer water; prevents greenhouse emissions; and protects biodiversity, habitats, and forests.
