From March 25-27, 2025, Solar Cookers International (SCI) had the privilege of participating in the World Health Organization (WHO) Second Global Conference on Air Pollution and Health, held in Cartagena, Colombia. This invite-only conference was a pivotal gathering of global experts, policymakers, and key stakeholders focused on accelerating action for clean air, clean energy access, and climate mitigation. SCI’s participation underscores our commitment to advocating for solar cooking solutions as an essential tool in the fight against air pollution and in promoting sustainable energy practices worldwide.

The conference, co-organized by the World Health Organization and the Government of Colombia, brought together an impressive array of participants such as Ministers of Health, Environment, and Energy, along with health professionals, city mayors, planners, and representatives from sectors including energy, transport, and waste management.

For SCI, the conference was an invaluable opportunity to engage with influential leaders and experts from around the world. Through our presence at this event, SCI was able to network with potential collaborators and deepen relationships with like-minded organizations and government officials. This is crucial as we continue to advocate for the widespread adoption of solar cooking solutions on global platforms and push for policy changes that prioritize clean energy access for all. Solar cooking not only mitigates harmful emissions but also offers an effective solution to the lack of clean energy access that affects millions globally. By bringing solar cooking into the conversation on climate change and public health, we aim to demonstrate its role in advancing both air quality and sustainable energy goals.

We are immensely grateful to our supporters, whose continued generosity enables SCI to be part of such significant conversations. It is because of you that we can stand at the forefront of these global dialogues, raise awareness of the need for cleaner cooking alternatives, and work alongside international partners to make real change.
