Mehmet joined Solar Cookers International in 2024. With nearly five years of experience working on projects aimed at increasing school attendance for refugee children in Turkey, Mehmet has witnessed firsthand the power of meaningful social interventions. His expertise lies in data analysis, project management, and leveraging technology to improve the efficiency and impact of non-profit work.
In his role as Development, Program, and Administrative Associate at Solar Cookers International, Mehmet enjoys being a central hub of information and resources for our team and supporters. Mehmet has the privilege of showing supporters the impact of their generosity, addressing inquiries from our global community, and ensuring that SCI operates smoothly as we expand the reach of solar cooking solutions worldwide.
In 2023, Mehmet volunteered in the earthquake relief efforts in Turkey, a transformative experience that underscored the importance of accessible energy solutions in disaster scenarios. Mehmet realized that solar technologies could provide critical support in areas where traditional energy sources are inaccessible or nonexistent.
Mehmet holds a master’s degree in International Relations and has always been passionate about addressing global issues. His academic and professional experiences have instilled in him a deep commitment to combining technology and social work to drive impactful change.
Currently residing in Davis, California, Mehmet enjoys cycling through the region’s natural landscapes and exploring the beauty of his new home state. Originally from Istanbul, Turkey, he brings a unique perspective shaped by life in one of the world’s most dynamic cities.
