Arun Raman became a member of the SCI Board in 2023, following years of collaboration with Alan Bigelow, Ph.D. in the East Coast region around New York. His background in sustainable technologies and software engineering adds valuable insight to the board. 

During his professional hours, Arun is a software engineer at Hyannis Port Research, a fintech company in Needham, MA. His expertise lies in the development of trading risk management software, which complements his dedication to sustainable solutions. 

A standout moment in Arun's career was his invitation to the Solar World Conference in Chile in 2019. Here, he presented groundbreaking research comparing open-source and commercial solar cooker designs, aiming to assess the viability of open-source cookers as a practical alternative. 

Arun holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Cornell University. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Tamil, he's also actively learning Chinese. Beyond his professional pursuits, Arun is a geography enthusiast, fostering an enduring curiosity about the world.
