Emily Bacchini

Emily Bacchini joined Solar Cookers International Board in late 2021. "As a Board Member, I am excited about expanding my knowledge and providing increasing levels of support for SCI.” – Emily Bacchini   

Emily is currently the Manager of the Environmental Services team at the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).  Prior to working for SMUD, she worked for environmental consulting firms.  Emily started at SMUD as an individual contributor to a supervisor and now is the  manager of a team of 17 environmental professionals.  She established the SMUD Nature Preserve Mitigation Bank at SMUD’s Rancho Seco property, which protects over 1,000 acres of vernal pool grassland, providing habitat for many rare and endangered species, including the California tiger salamander. Additionally, she provided environmental support for solar projects out at Rancho Seco. 

Emily received her Bachelor of Science degree in Aquatic Biology and Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1998.  Previous volunteer work includes serving on the Superior California Chapter Board for the Association of Environmental Professionals (AEP) for 11 years and serving as the President of the John F. Kennedy Marching Band and Color Guard Booster Club.  Outside of work, Emily enjoys baking, tending house plants, and taking care of various pets including chickens, fish, cats, and a dog. She is married and has two young-adult children.
